GOD’S JUNK DRAWER signings

So, yes, many last minute things happening, and tomorrow (!!!) is the release of God’s Junk Drawer and the start of me driving up and down the west cost to promote it. Which means there was no ranty writing post last week. And probably won’t be for another two weeks. Sorry.

But until then… maybe I’ll see you somewhere along the west coast.

God’s Junk Drawer is out tomorrow!

Hi Peter. I’ve had my copy of GJD on audible prepaid for a couple of months now. Was looking forward to getting it today, only to find it says it’s released on the 20th January, instead of the 11th November stated when I prepaid.

I’m in the UK. Do we have a slower release date than in the US or has Audible UK made a mistake?

Thanks, and keep up the good work.

I noticed the same thing this morning for the US release.
I had pre-ordered it and this morning when I opened up the app to download and start listening, it’s showing Jan 20, 2026.
Looking forward to it!

Sadly, this is affecting everyone. Peter sent out an explanation on this for his newsletter back on the 10th of this month. Basically, there was a technical issue that popped-up about 7 weeks ago, it caused a cascading series of delays as all kinds of schedules had to be readjusted, and it was ultimately decided to push back some release dates in order to have some breathing room for getting everything back on track.

Hey, Paul– sorry, explained this on Bluesky and in the newsletter before heading out on the book-signing tour. Long story very short, a hard drive crashed at exactly the wrong time, and with personal schedules/ work schedules/ holiday schedules there’s just no way to get it out before January. Sorry.

Hi Peter! Huge fan, and really looking forward to GJD! I want to echo what Paul above is saying; the audible release date changed at the last minute and now says 1/20/2026. When I asked audible what was going on, they said it was changed by the author.

Cheers and I can’t wait to read the book!

Ha ha ha, yeah that’s them trying to save face a bit. As mentioned above, I explained it at length in a few places and it really is just a “tech died at the worst time, crap luck, no one’s really at fault or to blame.” But I guess they’d rather blame somebody…

Same situation over here in the U.S. At 11:55PM on 11/10/25, I had the family in bed, made a bowl of popcorn (was prepared to go off my three month long Keto diet to celebrate the release), dimmed the lights, and sunk into my La-Z-Boy recliner before opening the Audible Store site and seeing the 1/20/26 release date. I sat there and continued refreshing the screen, convinced it must be some kind of error, for ten minutes, refusing to acknowledge the devastating reality staring me in the face. Then I made a vodka drink and, filled with self loathing, ate the entire bowl of popcorn before going to bed hating myself for being the kind of privileged, overfed idiot that allows himself to be “devastated” by the uniquely first-world problem of having to wait three months to hear my favorite narrator read my favorite author’s newest book.

Hi Peter hope this message finds you well!

I am really excited to hear the new book on audible. It was stated release date 11.11 which has now been revised to January. Was looking forward to listening over the holidays. Are the dates final or will you release it in the coming days.

Many thanks

Rahul

Sadly, you are not alone Paul. Same delay in the U.S. Odd no statement about it though. I figure it is one of two things…

1. Ray Porter being in high demand causing delays.
2. Audible likes to hold folks money as long as possible before delivering. I have one Steve Alten book I pre-ordered a few months ahead of time in June of 2023 that keeps getting delayed. Now says April 1, 2026. That date is not lost on me. 😉

Still worth the wait for GJD!

Thanks for letting me know. I’m not on Bluesky and I’m not always catching the updates in the newsletter. I’m glad it’s not just me affected, but I guess I’m gonna have to just be patient to get my fix. Keep up the good work. Have a great holiday period.
