Speaking of which, if you’ll forgive me, I was going to do a quick bit of shameless self-promotion. My first hardcover came out on Tuesday. It’s called The Fold, and it’s sort of a sci-fi/mystery/thriller with a strong horror element. More or less.
It’s got a ton of praise from people like Bram Stoker Award winners Joe McKinney (Dead City) and John Dixon (Phoenix Island), Chuck Wendig (Blackbirds), Mira Grant (Feed and Parasite), Wesley Chu (Lives of Tao), DJ Molles (the Remaining series), and Andy Weir who wrote a book called The Martian. Heck, even the Kirkus Review liked it and I’m told they’re really picky when it comes to giving good reviews.
If you happen to live in California, I’m in the middle of doing a bunch of signings (which is why there’s no ranty blog this week). I’ll be scribbling in books at 7:00 tonight (Thursday, June 4th) at Borderlands Books in San Francisco, and then at Dark Delicacies in Burbank on Saturday, June 6th around 2:00 pm. Plus on Sunday I’ll be down at Mysterious Galaxy in San Diego for the Writer’s Coffeehouse

THE FOLD is amazing. I pre-ordered it on Amazon and Audible, and read the entire thing the first day it came out. I wasn't intending to, but I could not put it down. The narration by Ray Porter is as good as his performance was on 14.
Agreed. Phenomenal performance of a phenomenal book. I loved every second of it and cannot wait for another Mike Erikson novel.
Nice job, Pete! Loved the book. The denouement was neat (in ways I will not spoil, but I am sure you know what I mean). A lot of sci-fi titles are getting turned into TV series or movies (The Martian, the Expanse series, etc.)… I think your books would transition to video fairly well.
I'm your new biggest fan. I read "14" and could not put it down, so I pre-ordered "The Fold" and it is equally great. Please, please, please keep it up, I already can't wait for the next book!
I've read all of your books and this is the best so far. I hope that The Fold is just the first of a series of books, because you've created a fascinating protagonist in Mike and plenty of opportunity for additional storylines. I think that The Fold is going to propel you to stardom and just begs to be made into a movie.
